Don’t Forget Your Sunscreen!
As I write this we are only one month away from Spring. I know how hard it is to believe that sunshine and warm days are just around the corner (or so they say!). However, it’s time for me to give you a gentle reminder how important it is to wear SPF all year round, even when it feels like there is an Artic chill in the air! This is not just important for skin cancer protection but also to minimise wrinkles…
Whatever the weather may be, exposure to the sun’s rays can speed up visible signs of aging. Being exposed to both UVA and UVB rays contributes to the formation of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as pigmentation.
However, sun damage doesn’t only age skin before its time, it also has a much more sinister consequence – Skin Cancer! It is well documented that having too much sun exposure can increase the risk of a person developing Skin Cancer.
While I’m not trying to scare you, using a good quality SPF that you can wear all year round on exposed skin is an important and necessary investment. Education is so important around this topic as so many people just aren’t aware of the repercussions of not protecting themselves. Wearing either a dedicated broad spectrum sunscreen or a make-up or tinted moisturizer that contains SPF is such an easy way to help slow down the aging process when it comes to premature skin aging cause by Sun Damage.
So even if it is freezing cold and raining sideways as you are reading this, please remember to incorporate a good quality SPF into your daily routine, your skin will thank you for it!
